Is there a Shortage of STEM workers or Stem jobs?

The debate is still going on! STEM industries require expert and qualified employees. However since ages there has been a shortage of qualified citizens who wish to work in the field of engineering, math, science etc. However another segment of people believe that despite of a growing number of graduates from these fields, people are unable to get employment in such fields and hence have to settle for alternate professions.
In one of the arguments, it is deemed that the shortage is due to the increase in salaries despite a decline or stagnation in other fields. For instance, the field of software engineering witnessed a 36% rise in the years between 2000 and 2013, despite being considered to be some of the worst years for other professions.

Some others feel that there are a large number of people who graduate from those fields and yet are unable to seek employment after graduation.

Although the facts may differ from one industry to another, yet the there is a disagreement about the fact that these people need to opt for alternative positions as they are unable to procure employment in their selected fields. For instance, a computer graduate who got a management job is bad for his STEM degree, but this same degree actually helped him to get the job on first place.
Although there is no clarity about this issue, you cannot deny that having a STEM degree is going to be beneficial to help you in getting good employment.

Some people also feel that most of these jobs are being sent abroad as the companies are trying to save a lot of money by stating that they did not get enough qualified applications in US, despite the fact that a large number of fresh graduates were trying hard to get a job and almost half of them had to choose alternative careers. This often amounts to workplace discrimination. If you are not being considered for the position because of your nationality, your creed or your gender then this should be taken seriously.
